Jeffrey Shero

Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Special Education at Vanderbilt University

Dr. Jeffrey Shero is an interdisciplinary researcher whose work focuses on identifying sources of inequities in cognitive and health outcomes, which he comes at from two distcint angles. First, Jeffrey's work has a strong methodological focus, developing and applying novel quantitative methodologies—including geographically-sensitive and quantile-sensitive modeling—to detect disparities and their underlying bioecological factors. Second, Jeffrey also has an applied focus in this work, using said advanced quantitative methods to explore sources of inequity as they relate to biological and environmental factors, and further the interaction between these biological and environmental factors. Currently a Postdoctoral scholar at Vanderbilt University’s Department of Special Education, Jeffrey also serves as a Biological Research Scientist at the Florida Department of Health and Lecturer at The Ohio State University in the John Glenn College of Public Affairs. His scholarship has appeared in leading journals such as Developmental Psychology and Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry, and he is actively involved in NIH-funded research exploring inequities from both methodological and applied perspectives. Finally, Jeffrey is a staunch advocate for open science practices, having helped to develop the learning and development data repository LDbase.org and regularly conducting trainings and workshops on related topics.
