Ymbar I. Polanco Pino is a Ph.D. candidate in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Tufts University, where his research bridges environmental justice, engineering, and community-driven education. His work explores how marginalized communities engage with STEM and environmental issues, particularly through culturally relevant approaches that center their lived experiences and knowledge systems. He is especially interested in how community-based participatory research can inform sustainable infrastructure, energy justice, and climate adaptation strategies. Through his research, Ymbaraims to develop frameworks that empower historically underserved communities to actively shape the policies and technologies that impact their environments.
