Where is the Equity in AI?

As artificial intelligence systems (AI) have been implemented within social domains such as education, calls in the U.S. for equitable and responsible AI have increased. This address will explore some of the reasons for those demands as they relate to racial and intersectional equity within algorithm function, predicative systems, biosensor technologies, and the accuracy/explainability of neural networks and the "data verse." This address concludes noting the growing importance, and infrastructure challenges, of research universities to guide AI innovation toward design justice and fair impact.
