Shaimaa A. Scrivner, PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Houston

Shaimaa A. Scrivner is a received a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction, with a focus on Bilingual/ESL Education from the University of Houston, TX. Her research is primarily focused on investigating how teachers' multilingual identity interacts with their language practices in the classroom. Prior to embarking on her doctoral studies, Shaimaa taught Arabic as a foreign language at the University of Miami in Florida and Rice University in Houston, Texas. She holds an M.Ed. in Teacher Education from the University of Houston and a B.S. in English language and literature from Cairo University in Egypt. Shaimaa is deeply passionate about equipping teachers with the resources needed to engage in culturally and linguistically responsive teaching. She aims to make a meaningful impact by empowering mainstream teachers, particularly those in mathematics, to create classrooms that support and value multilingual learners as active participants in high-quality learning.
